In our store, we sell Fair Trade items from around the world for people of all ages. On the following pages you will see organic cotton baby items, home decor, jewelry, toys, purses, art, wall hangings, sarongs, holidays items, and crafts of superb quality from artisans who employ timeless techniques. Why Fair Trade Items are NOT more expensive?
Generally, Fair Trade items cost less than other goods because Fair Trade organizations work directly with producers - cutting out anywhere from 3 - 10 middlemen who raise the price along the way. By making trade as direct as possible, Fair Trade organizations can make sure that the producer is being paid a fair wage while consumers are still paying a reasonable price. Also, Fair Trade organizations are passionate about helping to change the lives of the people they are buying from and therefore, use volunteers when possible, ship items in recycled boxes, and streamline the process as much as possible so that all involved can benefit in positive ways. The majority of the items in our store are priced between $2 and $35. We have some items that range from $50 to $90, items such as large copper trays, large handmade baskets, and larger art pieces.
